ATLANTA’S CARING LAWYERS: WE GET RESULTS
Jason L. Nohr (“Jay”) has 25 years of experience representing individuals seriously injured by negligence and misconduct of others, Jay has a long history of achieving successful results for his clients through jury trial verdicts and settlements. His practice areas include serious and catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, motor vehicle collisions, medical malpractice, birth injury, nursing home and elder abuse, and recreational vehicle and boating injuries. Jay was lead counsel for what is regarded as the only plaintiff’s trial verdict in a shoulder dystocia, birth injury case in Georgia.
Jay accepts a limited number of cases and provides individual attention to each of his clients to ensure their cases receive the attention to detail necessary for successful resolution through settlement or trial. Martindale-Hubbell has awarded Jay with its AV® Preeminent™ rating, the highest peer-review rating available, identifying a lawyer with very high to preeminent legal ability, expertise, experience, integrity and overall professional excellence.
Jay has been appointed as Receiver by judges of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia in securities fraud and Ponzi-type scheme cases to recover money taken from individuals through fraud and misconduct. As Receiver, Jay has successfully litigated and recovered millions of dollars for defrauded investors in federal courts throughout this country.
Jay is also an accomplished appellate advocate who has succeeded for his clients in the state and federal appellate courts of Georgia and is licensed to practice in the United States Supreme Court. In the first appellate case addressing nursing home arbitration agreements in Georgia, Jay defeated a nursing home’s efforts to force the case to arbitration. After winning the argument in the trial court, Jay convinced the Georgia Court of Appeals to broaden the trial court’s favorable ruling on appeal to help preserve the right to a jury trial for all Georgia nursing home residents and their family members. See Ashburn Health Care Center Inc. v. Poole , 286 Ga. App. 24, 648 S.E.2d 430 (2007).
Jay is admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, all United States District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia, the Georgia Supreme Court, the Georgia Court of Appeals, and all Georgia trial Courts. In his capacity as a court appointed receiver, he has litigated in federal courts throughout the country.
Since 2017, Jay has served as the President of CLAWS, an anti-human trafficking non-profit organization that uses the civil justice system to combat human trafficking. In 2018, Jay was appointed as a Cobb County Special Assistant District Attorney to represent the State of Georgia in a groundbreaking legal action that made successful and novel use of Georgia’s nuisance laws to hold accountable an area hotel notorious for allowing human trafficking on its premises. The successful resolution of this novel action and the media coverage it received will deter other hotels from allowing human trafficking activities on their property and serve as a model for additional legal actions against those that do.
Jay is a frequent presenter at legal seminars and continuing education classes on all of these topics and is a member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, the Cobb County Bar Association, and the Cobb County Trial Lawyers Association, serving as its President in 2007 and 2008.- Jason Lee NohrMarietta, Georgia, 30060 United States
